December 7 @ 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm
Holiday Reception with a lecture by Maureen Katz, MD
Abstract: At a pivotal time in the history and politics of our country, Dr. Katz provides compelling insight and explores the social, political and historical roots of current migration, the effects on the children and families, and the nature of psychoanalytic ethics in a time of cruel and inhuman actions imposed by our government.
Bio: Maureen Katz, MD, a psychoanalyst and psychiatrist in private practice of adult and adolescent psychoanalysis in Berkeley, California, has written on many topics of psychoanalysis, culture and society. In her writings she explores and conceptualizes the idea of the “ethnic other,” the responses to state terror, anti- immigration and neo-fascist responses, and gender from a psychoanalytic perspective.
